The shelter is determined by the terrain and vegetation. A bush shelter has the objective to provide safety and comfort from the elements and a point of location. The shelter should be positioned with entrance away from wind direction and water flow. The lay" slope" of the land would indicate the direction in which water should be directed with trenching and should be away from the entrance. Avoid any natural water courses and use the vegetation to your advantage for construction.( always observe what is on a higher ground and above your location for safety reasons). The structure should be Incorporated with surrounding land structures eg; trees standing or fallen, cave and rock formations wear possible. A semi rigid structure using green material wear possible and allowing its shape to incorporate wind direction. Fixing/lashing material can be green vegetation or fibre rolled plaited bark. Wrighting down with timber or rocks and using interlocking with branching are also options. Roofing frames should be steep and vegetation applied as over lapping, layering or shingling to disperse water quickly for Maximum water proofing.
