Despite what you’ve heard, Bushcraft is an affliction. It is a disease that grips the unsuspecting person when they are at their lowest ebb. It usually starts with watching certain outdoors television programmes and particularly affe cts the age group of 30 – 45 who haven’t considered buying a high-powered motorcycle. Early symptoms are: looking longingly at any wooded area, a yearning to buy kit and then a yearning to sleep out in the garden. Advanced stages of the disease see the afflicted person looking affectionately at sharp, shiny objects, shaving their arm with the said object, constructing strange articles such as wooden spoons and leather pouches, standing at the front door expectantly waiting for a parcel delivery, howling with joy when the parcel arrives, joining forums on the internet, and staying out for 3 or 4 days at a time.
